Autumn Art Lectures

Rafael – Genius of the Renaissance in Rome by Art Society Lecturer: Jo Walton
20th October at 7pm (note the early start again), live on Zoom

This lecture looks at Rafael’s short but astonishing career as a painter, architect, administrator and superb draughtsman, and considers his lasting influence on subsequent artists.
Lecturer Jo Walton works for The Arts Society, The Art Fund and Dulwich Picture Gallery.

The lecture can be watched by Art Group Members for free, live on zoom. There will be no audience at the Club and no recordings.

The zoom meeting will start at 6.45pm, in time for the lecture starting at 7pm; the lecture should take around 45 minutes plus Q&As.

During the 15 minutes before the start of the lecture we will play a video of artwork created by students in the summer and autumn classes.

If you would like to watch the lecture, book at Reception or give them a call on 020 8480 4200. We will email the zoom arrangements to everyone who has booked two days before the lecture.

The Club is sponsoring us to arrange an extra autumn lecture which will be available, as a one off, to the whole club to watch free. It will show a wider club audience one of the benefits of being a member of the art group!

The date to put in your diary is:

24th November at 7pm – Anne Anderson – The Scottish Colourists

Annual Art Exhibition and Sale

9th November – 18th December 2020

Art Group Members are invited to submit their art works now for the 2020 Art Exhibition and Sale. This will take place for the first time online as an exciting 3D art show from 9th November to 18th December 2020.

There was no Art Class Spring exhibition this year and so we would welcome students submitting their artwork if they wish; speak with your tutor for help choosing what to submit.

Everything will be done by email with no framing, no paper entry forms, no payments, no need to come to the Club and no need to offer any for sale if you don’t want to.

All you need to do is take a photograph of your artwork (taken easily on your camera phone) attach it to an email, given us a little information and send it to artgroupexhibition@gmail.com before 5pm on Wednesday the 28th October 2020.

Instructions can be found here. Ideally send your photos soon so we have time to place them on the online gallery walls.

We are all looking forward to seeing your artwork in this new exciting format!

Autumn Art Classes

We hope that all the students are enjoying the new term and thanks for complying with the social distancing rules!

Here are some examples of paintings by students in the water colour classes with our new tutor Shaun Carey. I am really enjoying the use of colours, shapes and distance!
