Monica Thornton has been taking her Friday morning acrylics painting classes on Zoom from her studio overlooking the islands of the Swedish Archipelago. She painted this scene from her studio window one evening and shows that even Santa needs the help of modern technology.

This past year has been very difficult. However, I am pleased that, with the ingenuity of the Art Group volunteers, we have been able to enjoy some wonderful online art lectures (the feedback on the Scottish Colourists lecture was fantastic), art classes and the end of year exhibition.
All of our activities will continue on Zoom until the Club is back in tier one; we are keen that, as soon as Government restrictions allow, we can get some or all of you back in the art studio and in the fountain room so that we can socialize together again.
Spring Term 2021 Art Classes

If you have been inspired to start art classes, take a New Years’ resolution now and sign up for the beginners and improvers drawing and painting class on Wednesday afternoons.
2021 Art Lectures
The next lecture to add to your diaries is on Monday the 19th January 2021.
Looking Over the Arts’ Shoulder: the Italian Sketchbooks of J.M.W. Turner by Nicola Moorby
This lecture will be followed through 2021 by a program of another five lectures covering Winston Churchill, Vermeer, Grayson Perry, John Piper and Graham Sutherland.
We may add an extra seventh lecture in May, and make it available to the whole Club, as we got such a positive response from Club Members who watched the last art lecture for the first time.
