Course overview:
- Epidemology of Low Back Pain: Guidelines for the intervention strategies in LBP. Practical application for Fitness Professionals. The classification of low back pain and the psychosocial components of low back pain.
- Anatomy, Physiology and biomechanics of Lower Back Pain: The structure and function of the Lumbar Spine. Local and global muscles including active and passive sub-systems.
- Exercise referral processes and communication skills: Understanding the referral process and the medico-legal requirements, understand the scope of practice and communication skills.
- Assessment and screening: Including: collecting client information; client assessments; understanding the precautions and contraindications; psychosocial assessment and functional/physical assessment.
- Programme design: Including: progressive programme design considerations: providing psychosocial support; establishing and monitoring exercise quotas and intensity.
